Hockey Day Happenings

On November 5th, students and Judson alumnae participated in an exciting tradition known as Hockey Day. Students from all classes attended to see the games unfold for the day. Starting with the inter-class game, the seniors faced off against the frosh in a game full of energy and determination. In the end, the seniors took home the win for the morning games.

Students and alumnae traveled inside the gym to watch creative and entertaining skits performed by members of each of the three classes, centered around this year’s theme of Hockey Then, Now, and Future. After the crazy antics and comedic actors finished, the crowd gathered outside the gym on the hockey field once more to watch the alum face the All-Star team in the final game. Both teams fought and struggled against one another and reached the end at a tie. However, the All-Stars pulled through in the final stretch, winning the game in the name of sisterhood and hockey.

A member of the All-Stars team, Erin Brown, looks forward to Hockey Day every year. “Playing field hockey is a really fun time, and a great chance to really get to know our fellow classmates. It can be a bit rough and we can get pretty competitive, but we always come together to sing the hockey song after every practice and game,” she explained, reminiscing on why she loves the tradition so much.

After the final game ended, Lauren Hurt was crowned Hockey Queen. “The night before the game, I gave the game to the Lord–I knew that it would take an act of God for the Senior team to win. Our numbers were few, and the Jr.-Frosh team was a true force to be reckoned with. I am so proud of my team and they way they worked together in the end. Shout out to Mary for scoring three out of our four points! Hockey is one of my favorite traditions here at Judson, so being crowned Hockey Queen was very special,” Hurt commented, “Hockey season is one of my favorite traditions at Judson because win or lose, the memories made with my Judson sisters on both teams are treasures that will last forever.”
Students and alumnae gathered together on the steps of Jewett for a step-sing together, and Wishing Well took place shortly afterward, where the third year seniors got to share and act out some of their favorite memories through the years.
